Are you ready to evacuate?

Due to our current hot, dry, high wind/weather conditions in the area, I urge you to review your evacuation preparedness.

The Hawk Fire in Reno has limited our options for an evacuation escape route toward the Reno area due to the city’s own evacuation mandates. Many first responders from Plumas County are also on duty in that area, so local emergency resources may be limited for the near future.

Now is the time to think about where you could evacuate to other than Reno. As an example, the Watch Duty Map shows that the Quincy area north of us is incident free as is the Lake Tahoe south of us. However, conditions can change so be sure to periodically recheck Watch Duty.

Make sure your Go Bag is ready, and that your vehicle has sufficient fuel in the event we end up with our own fire situation, you can quickly go. Refer to the attachment for tips.

Check in with your family or friends and give them what you think might be options for your destination point.

Stay safe and feel good about knowing you are prepared.
